Golf Course
Nestled 20 miles east of Colorado's picturesque Continental Divide and Wolf Creek Ski Area, the Rio Grande Club golf course is surrounded by all the natural beauty that Southern Colorado has to offer: rivers, meadows, creeks, volcanic formations, wildlife and nearby mountain peaks topping 12,000 feet. Our Championship, 18-hole layout offers one-of-a-kind opportunities for all ages and abilities to enjoy the game of golf!
About the Course
- Rio Grande Club opened for play in 2002 and was ranked #6 in Golf Digest's "Best New Upscale Public Courses in 2004"
- Our Par 72 course offers five sets of tees from 3,458 yards (Silver Tees) to 7,053 yards (Blue Tees)
- Golf at 8,500 feet---with elevation changes from 8,100 to 8,560 feet and an array of stunning views and one-of-a-kind shots
- Our18-Hole championship layout offers two distict nine-hole experiences. The front nine play alongside—and over—the Rio Grande, offering wetland habitat rich with native plants and animals. The back nine takes golfers through pine, aspen and cottonwood trees; stunning rock formations; and landscape thick with wild rose, gooseberry and vibrantly-colored wildflowers. It's along the back nine that golfers meet the challenge of dramatic elevation changes and tee shots that feel as though you are hitting off the very edge of a mountain. The back nine also border Rio Grande National Forest and follow alongside the serene Alder Creek, which flows into the Rio Grande.
Timbers Restaurant & Big River Grille
The Rio Grande Club & Resort offers two dining experiences with the Timbers Restaurant and Big River Grille. Each restaurant boasts stunning views of South Fork, the Rocky Mountains and the 18th hole of the Rio Grande Club's award-winning golf course. Our talented culinary staff takes great pride in creating recipes that are innovative yet familiar. Our menu combines Old World tradition and all-natural ingredients with a progressive American culinary philosophy. Our ingredients include fresh herbs from our Chef's Garden, organic poultry & produce, hand-cut steaks from the finest Angus beef and scratch-made sauces, marinades, stocks and breads. Our wine list offers a carefully-selected variety of Colorado wines as well as national and international selections encompassing choices. We also offer an array of craft cocktails using fresh ingredients from our Chef's garden. Think scratch made mint mojitos and lavender martinis!
